It's a balance: Energy in = Energy out.

Energy In

Good nutrition based on a balanced diet from all five food groups gives
children the nutrients needed to build and maintain strong, healthy bones
and bodies. So make these eating habits part of a daily routine:

. Eat from the Five Food Groups
. Eat different foods from each food group each day
. Start each day with a healthy breakfast
. Drink milk with breakfast, lunch and dinner to help build strong bones
. Eat Healthy Snacks to help refuel

Energy Out

Physical activity helps children burn off the energy they take in to help
maintain a healthy weight, improve fitness, relieve stress, build
self-esteem and the capacity to learn. Along with adequate calcium, it
builds healthy bones. So, be sure to help...

. Get at least 60 minutes of physical activity everyday
. Walk or ride your bike to school, if possible
. Play hard at recess
. Be active during P.E. class
. Get moving with after-school programs or sports
. Contact your community recreation department to find out about youth
football programs available
