Competitive Youth Flag Football

The Michigan Hurricanes Flag Football Club, of the National Youth Flag Football Association, is an exclusive organization that seeks players who are confident, competitive, coachable, skilled and looking to improve!

Players ages 5 - 14 years old (as of Sept 1. 2010)

We are offering you an opportunity to compete against teams from outside the county and possibly the state on a competitive flag football team. The HURRICANES program is for the skilled player who wants more practices, games and competition. The HURRICANES is only open to players who measure up or have the skills to make "the cut". HURRICANES teams will be coached by selected parent coaches and the professional staff of Mill Coleman Football Fundamentals. Our main focus is on preparing players to compete at higher levels in football as well as physical fitness, speed, agility, and the life lessons of discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Practices/Training/Games: If you are one of the selected players, you will practice/train 1 to 2 days a week at outdoor locations in Bloomfield Hills However, exact practice day & time will be determined after the teams are selected. Practices will begin the week of Sept. 8 and continue through the week of Nov. 9.

The 5-6 & 7-8 year olds will play in 3 mini-tournaments and the State Tournament in addition to their 1-2 practices a week. Scrimmages may be scheduled during practice times with other competitive teams. The team will be coached by select parent coaches with extra training by Mill Coleman and his staff.

The 9-11 & 12 -14 year olds will play in 3 tournaments. The NFL Regional Tournament, the State Tournament, & the Hurricanes Tournament at Andover HS in addition to their 1- 2 practices a week. Scrimmages may be scheduled during practice times with other competitive teams. All tournaments have a 3 game guarantee. If we win the NFL Regional Tournament, players will have the option of playing in the NFL FLAG National Tournament of Champions.

The team will be coached by Mill Coleman and his staff tentatively sometime on Sundays between 12:30 & 3:30 and/or Mondays between 5:15 & 7pm.

Costs

The cost for the 5/6 & 7/8 year old games, practices, referees, liability insurance, fields, tournament registration fee & administrative fees will be under $200 for the season (exact amount will be determined at parents meeting based on number of players per team which we will limit to 10 players.)

The cost for the 9-11 and 12-14 year old games, practices, referees, liability insurance, fields, equipment, tournament registration fees & administrative fees will be under $350 for the season (exact amount will be determined at parents meeting based on number of players per team which we will limit to 10 players.)

Coaches Bios: HURRICANES teams will be coached by selected parent coaches as well as the Mill Coleman Football Fundamentals Staff including, Mill "The Thrill" Coleman is a former Farmington Hills Harrison High School three time All-State Quarterback, All-American Quarterback and MVP recipient of two state championships. Mill still holds the Michigan high school state passing record for yardage (7,464 yards) and touchdown passes (77). He was selected to Detroit Free Press All-Decade High School Football Team (1980-1990) as the Quarterback. Mill is a former Michigan State University captain, three year starter (quarterback, receiver, running back and punt returner. During his time at MSU, Mill was named MSU Team MVP.

After attending MSU Mill went on to play professionally with the Chicago Bears (2 years) and Montreal Allouttes (2 years) before a knee injury ended his career. Mill is currently the QB coach and Assistant Offensive Coordinator with 12 time state football champion Farmington Hills Harrison H.S. out of Farmington Hills, MI
